Georgia Northwestern Grabs Win Number One Versus In-State Rival

(Carrollton, Georgia) – Georgia Northwestern found the win column in one of the toughest places possible. The Lady Cats took their match with in-state rival West Georgia Tech Monday to a full five games to win 18-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-23, 10-15.

“These players earned this,” said Lady Cats Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Carrie Powell. “We have a lot of matches in the next couple of weeks. They needed this to get their focus for our schedule.”

Georgia Northwestern dropped their first two dates on the schedule a week prior falling to non-region foes Bryan College and Crown College. The Lady Cats (1-2) travel to Knoxville, Tennessee Friday to tangle with Johnson University. Powell’s club returns home Monday to host Covenant College at The R.A.C. Match time is 7 p.m.

“We have six freshmen starting on this squad,” said Powell. “We have learned a lot in a short amount of time. Our schedule wraps up at the end of October. But the next seven weeks will be incredibly intense. This team has lots to learn and they are learning it under fire.”

Georgia Northwestern competes in the N JCAA’s Region XVII covering the southeast.
