(Toccoa Falls, GA) – Down by 17 with eight minutes to play, the Bobcats found a way to fight back against four-year program Toccoa Falls (GA) in a tough road game Tuesday night. However, a long heave from Bobcat sophomore Bud Todd would fall short of its mark at the buzzer and Georgia Northwestern would fall, 73-70.

The Cats (6-14, 0-5) would enjoy an eight-point lead in the first-half in Eagle country before seeing the lead vanish by the break. Toccoa Falls would use 50-percent three-point shooting in the first stanza to secure a 39-37 lead going into the intermission.

After falling behind by 17, Georgia Northwestern Men’s Head Basketball Coach would call a timeout with eight minutes to play. A game plan change would see the Bobcats roar back and get within striking distance in the final minute of play. Big three-pointers from sophomore Justin Dempsey and freshman Hunter Ivester would help the Cats whittle away at the lead.

Georgia Northwestern NJCAA All-Region and All-District standout would shine tonight as sophomore post player Alex Miller (Calhoun, GA) would lead all scorers with 26 points, 12 boards, and a pair of rejections in the non-region loss. Freshman Hunter Ivester (Trion, GA) would contribute 14 points and swipe three steals before fouling out with two minutes to play.

Eagle guard Josh Barrett would lead the Toccoa Falls effort with 23 points and six assists in the win.

The Bobcat road squad was without freshman Fernando Lemus, Jr. (Rome, GA), freshman Quinton Cotton (Rome, GA), and freshman Jordan Robinson (Bryant, AL). All three are probable for Friday night’s roster for Georgia Northwestern’s next action.

The Bobcats will host Macon State Friday night at The R.A.C. (Rossville Athletic Complex) in Rossville, Georgia for the college’s Food Drive Game benefitting the LaFayette Care Mission. Each cash or non-perishable food donation is worth one free admission to Friday night’s game. The match-up will also be Youth Leagues Night at The R.A.C.
